Doris Pugh, 82, an Alexandria homemaker and former secretary, died March 17 at the home of her daughter in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County.
She died after a stroke, said her granddaughter Kim Kopeski.
Doris Mae Hickey was born in Erlanger, Ky. She moved to the Washington area as a child and, in 1948, graduated from Osbourn High School in Manassas.
She was a former school crossing guard at George Mason Elementary School in Alexandria. From age 40 to 75, she worked intermittently as a secretary for several organizations, including Passport Chrysler and Central Motor Co. in Alexandria. She was an Alexandria resident.
Her husband, George L. Pugh, whom she married in 1949, died in 2001. Survivors include her longtime companion, William Bowser of Centreville; three children, Jeff Pugh of Richmond, Vt., Glenn Pugh of Winchester, Va., and Rosa Lee Ford of Alexandria; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
