Howls that for an alarm? Montrose Rd., 5900 block, Rockville, March 14. In response to calls from several residents reporting an animal in an apartment that sounded as though it were being beaten or otherwise abused, an animal services officer met with the dog’s owner. The mixed-breed dog appeared to be in good shape, and it was determined that the dog was being crated while the owner was away from the apartment. The canine would howl and cry when inside the crate. The officer’s findings were passed on to the callers.

Biting the hand that feeds: Baltimore Ave., 5000 block, Bethesda, March 15. A pet sitter called animal services to report being bitten by a cat the sitter had been watching. An officer placed the black domestic shorthair feline under the required 10-day quarantine to ensure the animal was free of rabies.
