Josephine O’M. Wilson, 103, a past president of the Burning Tree Garden Club in Bethesda, died Feb. 21 at the Carriage Hill Bethesda nursing center.
She had congestive heart failure, said her son Francis E. Wilson Jr.
Mrs. Wilson resided in Montgomery County for much of the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. During her husband’s Navy career, she lived for periods in Hawaii and Portugal. The couple retired to Virginia Beach, where Mrs. Wilson lived for about 17 years before returning to the Washington area in 1992.
Josephine Larkin O’Mara was born in Baltimore. She attended what is now Mount St. Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Md., and the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore.
In her 20s, she was a society reporter for the Baltimore Sun.
Her husband of 57 years, Navy Capt. Francis E. Wilson, died in 1998. Survivors include three children, Francis E. Wilson Jr. of Swansboro, N.C., Marylinda W. Hishmeh of Kensington and John T. Wilson of Chevy Chase; six grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
