Event to help raise funds for Lake Ridge dog park

A dog walk to raise money for the first off-leash dog park in Prince William County is scheduled for 10 a.m. April 28 at Lake Ridge Park, 12350 Cotton Mill Dr., Woodbridge. Registration begins at 9 a.m.

About $16,000 needs to be raised before the dog park can open on Minnieville Road near Colby Drive in Lake Ridge. The money will be used for fencing the area, trash cans and gravel for the parking lot.

Organized by Prince William County Dogs, a group raising money for the park, in partnership with Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition, the 2.75-mile walk will include both natural surface trails along the Occoquan River and sidewalks through Lake Ridge area.

The cost is $5 for each dog. Refreshments for the animals and their owners will be available.
