A full house: Echols Ave., 5100 block, March 14. Responding to a report about five dogs and two birds in a home, an animal control officer told the owner that a maximum of three dogs was allowed. The animals’ owner said that the birds, which were in need of veterinary care, belonged to her ex-husband, one dog was living there temporarily and the other dogs belonged to roommates.

Vehicle confinement prohibited: The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria reminds pet owners not to leave animals inside vehicles when the outside temperature is 70 degrees Fahrenheit or above. The fine for violating the law is $250.

Canine strays beyond a 5K: Jefferson Davis Hwy., 2300 block, March 10. An owner who had reported to the shelter that her dog escaped caught the animal where it had been spotted, about 3.5 miles from her home.
