Patrick W. Deiss, 38, a corporate chef at the 2941 Restaurant group in Falls Church, where he had worked for the past decade, died Aug. 3 at Inova Fairfax Hospital.
He had complications from a perforated ulcer, sepsis and acute renal failure, said his mother, Kathleen Ackerson.
Patrick William Deiss was born in Alexandria and grew up in Northern Virginia. He graduated from Annandale High School in 1992 and received an associate degree from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y., in 1998.
He worked as a sous chef and executive chef at Washington area restaurants, including Gerard’s Place, Restaurant Nora and Asia Nora, before joining the 2941 Restaurant group. His positions there included head baker.
His marriages to Rebecca Cappello and Blanton Brown ended in divorce.
Survivors include two daughters from his first marriage, Brianna Deiss and Maya Deiss, both of Annandale; his mother and stepfather, Kathleen Ackerson and Guy Ackerson, both of Mount Jackson, Va.; his father and stepmother, William Deiss and Jill Deiss, both of Winchester, Va.; a brother, Jonathan Deiss of Alexandria; a stepbrother, Charles Ackerson of Preston, Md.; and a stepsister, Susan Ackerson Dortch of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
