A 21-year-old Prince William County woman was indicted Monday on a charge of felony murder in the death of a toddler in her care, prosecutors said.
A warrant was issued by Circuit Court Judge Richard B. Potter on Tuesday for the arrest of Jessica Fraraccio of the 6100 block of River Forest Drive in Manassas.
Fraraccio was charged with murder and child abuse late last month after a 23-month-old child died on Aug. 22 in the 9300 block of Birchwood Court, according to a Manassas police department news release.
Police declined to release any details about the victim, including the name.
The nearly seven-month investigation was prolonged because of complex medical issues that arose in the investigation — not unusual in infant death investigations, said police Sgt. Lowell Nevill, a department spokesman.
A charge of first degree murder will likely be dropped, while prosecutors plan to make a decision at a later date about whether to pursue the additional child abuse charge, said Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul B. Ebert.
