TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- No. 3 Alabama's defense scored on a fumble return, had a batted ball for an interception and doubled its forced turnovers on the season. It's the kind of opportunistic performance the Crimson Tide has been known for under coach Nick Saban, but hadn't quite managed in the first four games. That doesn't mean Saban was satisfied when the defense forced four turnovers in Saturday's 38-20 win at Kentucky. "He's never satisfied. Ever," said linebacker Rolando McClain, who had a hand in three of the takeaways.

OXFORD, Miss. -- Alabama's plan for containing Mississippi quarterback Jevan Snead was pretty simple: Hit him and hit him hard. "We hit their quarterback just about every time in the first half and I think it affected him," coach Nick Saban said. Did it ever. The game was effectively over by halftime after the second-ranked Crimson Tide rocked the Rebels' leader and Alabama (6-0, 4-0 Southeastern Conference) wiped away any lingering questions about performing against a top offense.

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Alabama running back Trent Richardson took the handoff in his own end zone and instantly found himself surrounded by guys wearing Kentucky blue. On the Crimson Tide sideline, one thought kept running through Mark Ingram's head: Uh-oh. "I thought it was a safety, personally," Ingram said. It wasn't. Barely. Officials ruled Richardson managed to get the nose of the ball out of the end zone. The six inches turned out to be all the room the Crimson Tide needed.
