Martha McFarland, 90, a registered nurse and a member of First United Methodist Church in Hyattsville, died of respiratory failure May 31 at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly. She was a resident of Hyattsville. Her son, John P. McFarland, confirmed her death. Martha Anne McVey was a native of Des Moines and a 1943 graduate of the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. Diana Menzie, 59, who worked for 25 years as a hairdresser with Positive Image salon in Springfield until about five years ago, died May 26 at her home in Springfield. She had liver cancer. The death was confirmed by her husband, William R. Menzie. Diana Lea Peterson was born in Red Oak, Iowa, and she graduated from a cosmetology school in Des Moines. She settled in the Washington area in the mid-1970s. She was a member of Messiah United Methodist Church in Springfield and the Clan Menzies heritage society.
