St. Stephen's/St. Agnes Coach Marsha Way learned the mettle of her team in its season-opening win against Holy Cross. That night, Ellie Carson scored twice in the final three minutes to erase a one-goal deficit and lift the No. 7 Saints to victory. "It's that kind of stuff that tells me, they might be down for a little while, but they're gonna come back," Way said. But Saints senior Sapphire Tubbs culled the most from her team's only two defeats to date. In...

CANTERBURY, England — Christians and Jews are mounting campaigns for and against a path to sainthood for British writer G.K. Chesterton (1874-1936), one of the world's best-known Catholic converts. Both claim to communicate with supernatural beings — and both are suspected of being crazy. In other words, the artists who make up the New York-based theater company...

"Ain't Them Bodies Saints," by Texas filmmaker David Lowery, is a moody, achingly emotional murder ballad of a movie, a plumb-crazy romance played out against the timeless backdrop of the American West and the headstrong outlaws, do-right lawmen and stoic Southern belles who inhabit it. In other words, "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" is the latest in a long line of cinematic stories about crime, doomed love and the wages of self-deception. But Lowery manages to subvert the very cliches he so self-consciously deploys.
